Who is Katie Taylor? Is she a missing heiress, as the lovable, quirky, aristocratic Gramercy family seems to think? Is she simply the town music tutor, as she has been for years? Or is she someone else all together? These are just a few of the questions that plague Kate throughout the story. She knows nothing of her past, and all roads of inquiry have been useless. But someone may know something. Thorne, a soldier in the local militia, is a force to be reckoned with. A brooding, taciturn man who never smiles or laughs, Thorne is seen as an enigma in the small town, and Kate does her best to avoid him. When he suddenly comes to her rescue one evening, Kate realizes that all is not what it seems. Can Kate determine her heritage and still convince Thorne he is the one for her, in spite of everything? Read on and find out.
This is a rollicking good read, filled with wild adventure, crazy long lost cousins, buried scandals, and strong willed, sassy characters. There were moments I laughed out loud, and others where I gnawed my lip wondering what else could go wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and so will readers everywhere.
