Royal Enchantment

Skeleton Key

Ava, is having a few hard knocks lately. She just purchased a huge Victorian house to renovate, but her business partner is missing and so is their money. She'd really wanted to work on this house, even if her partner seemed against it, there was something that drew her to it. After feeling a little blue, she decides to explore the house and finds a hidden door. When she goes through, she ends up in a fantasy world with a handsome Elf king, Finn, determined to make her his wife. She makes a deal to stay for a bit and learn about the land and the people. She learns more than she expected.

Ava is sassy and approaches the situation with skepticism, as I probably would. Finn is a strong, fighter as well as the leader of the dark elves. He is drawn to Ava and knows she is his soul mate and the one from the prophesy that will restore the dwindling magic of their world and help fight the forces of evil that started the curse to begin with. Ava is drawn to Finn as well a and find that she has some magic inside of her. She doesn't want to believe that she is this prophesied hero, after all, she's just a human from Earth.

The characters are fun and I love when they snark at each other. I enjoy when couples don't just fall blindly in love with some guy/girl they just met. They may be soul mates, but that doesn't mean that they have to be weak or have no personality of their own.

I also like that the secondary characters are fairly well developed, too and help move the story along.
