Legacy of Kings

Book Three of the Magister Trilogy

The magical shield called The Wrath that was created centuries ago by powerful witches to trap The Souleaters has failed. Now the creatures are feeding once again and they have adapted and changed. Already violent and dangerous before becoming cognitive, now they are terrifying. The last remaining queen of their species has one other advantage as well. She has bonded with a devious and powerful seductress, Sidirea, who has brought many powerful man and Magister to his knees. Together they are a powerful force that will be difficult to overcome.

High King Salvator Aurelius is the first Penitent King. He has taken his birthright as King but he holds onto his faith in the one creator and tries to merge those two aspects of his life together. Now he must prove himself to his people and plan a perfect strategy to unite all the kingdoms against the biggest threat the world has seen since the First Age of Kings. Using his faith as a guiding light, he raises up an army to defeat these abominations.

Magister Colivar is the oldest and most powerful Magister in the world. He alone knows the secrets of the past and witnessed the first war against the Souleaters. His darkness is also stronger than all the others. As the time to face his past and do battle against the common enemy draws closer, his memories begin to consume him and his tenuous hold on his humanity begins to slip.

Kamela has hidden that she is the only female Magister for many years. Always, she has had to be careful and clever to avoid anyone guessing the truth. But as plans unfold and she spends more time with Colivar, she must decide what her role will be in the upcoming battle. If the human race is to survive she must show herself to the others and use her unique abilities to tip the balance in their favor.

In this epic conclusion to the The Magister Trilogy, all of the characters come together for the final battle. Each character not only moved toward a common goal but they each also had a personal battle within themselves that they had to conquer as well. Many long-time enemies had to put their differences aside and stand next to each other united for the sake of humanity. The plot was rich with detail and moved quickly. The world felt real and the characters had depth. The magic and struggles were vivid and seemed to come to life with each turn of the page. This was a wonderful series that delved into the battle between good and evil. I found it to be an incredible Epic Fantasy story.

The young peasant woman Kamala has proven strong and determined enough to claim the most powerful Magister sorcery for herself-but now the Magisters hunt her for killing one of their own. Her only hope of survival lies in the northern Protectorates, where spells are warped by a curse called the Wrath that even the Magisters fear. Originally intended to protect the lands of men from creatures known only as souleaters, the Wrath appears to be weakening-and the threat of this ancient enemy is once more falling across the land.
