Lady Alexandra is not your ordinary Socialite. She rides, fights, shoots and handles a sword better than most men and does not wish to be bothered by tea parties and finding a marriageable man. When she’s given the opportunity for adventure and the chance to prove her brother’s innocence she grabs it without a second thought. Michael, the Earl of Trenton, is known for his fairness and intends to keep an open mind when dealing with Alex’s brother. At first he does not see the need for Alex and Ryan to accompany him but as they spend time in each other’s company he and Alex are drawn to each other.
Alex is tough and sassy. She has a sharp tongue and a temper. At the beginning of the journey she decides that she will hate Lord Trenton but over time they become friends and she finds herself attracted to him. As her feelings for him grow, so too does her fear. Long ago she vowed that she would never marry, which was not usually a problem until she fell for Michael.
Michael has never met a woman like Alex. No woman has ever been as exciting or entertaining. Marriage had not crossed his mind before meeting her. Now that he has found the woman he wants to spend his life with, he is having difficulty getting her to agree to become his wife. Not one to give up easily he is determined to find out why she is so resistant and prove to her that they were made for each other.
I have always liked tough and sassy heroines and this story delivered just that. Add in a strong handsome love interest and I was hooked. The characters sparked off each other and landed into some amusing and unusual circumstances. I found myself laughing at their banter and rooting for their relationship to work out. The story moved at a quick pace and kept me turning the pages. I found this story very fun and light and enjoyed every minute of it.
