Coldbrook

Coldbrook is chilling and nail biting. Not only are the pages filled with the horror of a zombie apocalypse but it also has a wonderful twist to the event that started it. I loved the scientific explanation with the multiple universes that Jonah and his team have striven to prove and finally stumbled upon. Not only does ripping open a worm-hole invite trouble from the world they touch but there are more sinister things hiding in the shadows. The story is extremely fast paced and graphic. The characters are generally likeable and tough. It is interesting and fun how some of the most underrated characters become the biggest heroes and how some of the nicest people have a choice whether to show the darker side of humanity or be its brightest light when under duress. As with most suspenseful stories this one shows a wide variety of the strengths and weaknesses of being human. It also paints a vivid picture of the consequences of playing God.

At a secret laboratory in the Appalachian Mountains, scientists have made a huge discovery: a gateway into another world. On heels of their celebration comes the beginning of Armageddon. Within hours the world is in complete chaos with few survivors. Meanwhile one of the scientists finds herself unexpectedly exploring the new world. And the leader of the project, Jonah, thinks he’s losing his mind as he feels like he is being followed by an unseen entity. Is his guilt causing hallucinations? So many people are swept up in the end of days and so few hold the key to stopping this terrible plague. Can they figure out the answers before it is too late?
