Jackie Ashenden's book “The Big, Bad Billionaire”, was a modern twist on a classic fairytale. Rafe and Ella knew each other as children, and as far as Rafe sees it, shared a special bond. However, they were separated after Rafe threw an unusually bad tantrum and was sent away to live with his grandfather. As adults, Ella is a ballet dancer and Rafe is working in the corporate world in his father's company. Ella's parents have died and left her in the custody of Rafe's family. Rafe manages to gain custody of Ella from his father and hopes to renew a relationship with Ella once more.
This book drew me in immediately and I read the first twenty percent of it within an hour, however, after a period of time it seemed to me that the book started dragging and I was tempted to skip ahead of all of the over the top drama to read the "important stuff". I think the relationship between Rafe and Ella moved at a good speed at first, but they both had so much dark baggage, which in turn created a lot of drama. Personally, I'm not super big on books with darker themes and I did skip over some parts because of it. However, I feel that even though I did skip some of the drama, I did not miss much in terms of the overarching plot.
