I have always been told that advertising was one of the most stressful and cutthroat careers out there, so I can imagine this setup is quite realistic. Chelsea is in competition with Ian over a lucrative ad campaign that could lead to a coveted corner office. With a boss who appears to enjoy playing games with people's lives, the competition turns ugly. But when a snow storm rolls in, Ian and Chelsea find themselves stranded at the office together alone.
I think Chelsea is a person many can relate to because sometimes women do have a harder time in the workplace than men. They have to work longer and harder and this all work and no play lifestyle sucks all the joy out them.
We all know someone like Ian, too. A person who doesn't seem to work too hard to get the most coveted positions. They have an easy and confident manner about them and because they have not experienced too many disappointments they have an arrogant vibe that might make some feel resentment toward them.
So, Chelsea thinks Ian is arrogant and cocky and Ian thinks Chelsea is uptight. But when they are trapped together they realize they actually like each other, quite a lot actually. Things were going great between them until Ian drops a major bombshell and all the progress they made evaporates.
This story is a fantasy we have all probably indulged in at one time or another, but few have the guts or the means in which to actually pull it off. I loved that these two actually take stock of their lives and decide to use their talents and follow their dreams in a more ethical way. Of course love helps to pave the way for this happen. Although the story is short the characters are developed and the emotions touch a nerve. I felt anger and sadness and then much satisfaction at the way it all turned out.
A very enjoyable read.
