The Sharpest Blade

A Shadow Reader Novel, #3

This riveting addition to the 'Shadow Reader' series keeps the adrenaline pumping as McKenzie Lewis continues to be torn between two worlds and two lives. Having a normal life is finally in her grasp when a ruthless enemy strikes against her friends and she has to put her attempt at normalcy behind her and rush back to the realm. While the fae she loves and the fae she’s tied to pull her in two different directions, she must uncover the truth and accept that painful sacrifices must be made.

This steady to fast-paced plot keeps the reader on their toes with lots of action, suspense and drama. The author describes the scenes with well-written words and vivid imagery that capture the imagination and the action scenes are well orchestrated and make the reader feel as if they are a part of the story. The characters are strong, enchanting and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning. Tension builds throughout the story as the false blood plots and the danger escalates, keeping the characters in a constant state of turmoil.

The romance between McKenzie and Aren is full of conflict in this story as the life bond with Kyol is difficult for him to accept, not to mention that the enemies just won’t leave them alone long of enough for them to work things out. The author coveys the emotions and personalities of all the characters with such intensity that they are brought to vibrant life and ensure that the reader is drawn deeper into their stories and can understand their motivations and actions.

I was completely engrossed in the book from beginning to end and the author threw some surprises in that kept me wondering what she was up to. The shadow reader concept is interesting and refreshingly different which spices things up a bit and McKenzie is a captivating heroine who really stands out and has come a long way in this fascinating series.
