The Last Dream Keeper

An Echo Park Coven Novel, #2

Only one witch has been prophesied to be able to stop the encroaching darkness and Lyse MacAllister and the Echo Park Coven must keep her safe – no matter the costs in this thrilling urban fantasy.

The reader is drawn into the story as it begins where the first book left off with Lyse trying to get a handle on her growing powers and trying to discover what was real and what was a dream and that’s only the beginning of the tension building excitement as the council is turning a blind eye to the escalating danger of a group of fanatics who want to bring about the end times. The well written scenes and details paint vivid images, bringing the story to life and making it easy for the readers to become caught up in the engaging story while the intriguing events keeps tensions high with every turn of the page.

The plot flows smoothly with a steady pace full of suspense, excitement, turmoil and unexpected twists while the bewitching characters draw you into their story as they make their stand against the darkness and with a coven of witches involved, including some that have left the mortal plane, there is plenty to keep readers busy as the characters are a bit on the clueless side as to what their parts are in the upcoming battle. While the story does flip POV quite it bit, it is necessary to get the full impact of each of their parts in the upcoming battle.

I wasn’t quite as enamored of this one as I was the first book because while the story is a bit complex, it seems to move a little slowly despite the jumping from person to person and I couldn’t quite get in to the way the characters were portrayed in this one but at the same time I was caught up in the suspense and since there is a cliffhanger as the battle has only just begun, I am holding out that the next book will pick up the promise of the first one.
