Before she can keep her promise the two of them are paired to root out a group of troublemakers and the readers can’t help but get pulled into their story as their icy feelings for each other begin to thaw. The chemistry between Hannah and Sean pulls at them both but hurt feelings and insecurities have these two reluctant to give in those burning desires which has lots of emotional turmoil flowing from the pages as these strong compelling characters demand the reader’s attentions as they try to learn their places in the grand scheme of life and the fast paced, smooth flowing plot holds readers captive with lots of suspense, excitement, turmoil and romance.
Tensions escalate throughout the book the longer Hannah and Sean are together as their emotional issues seem to constantly overwhelm their desires and the excitement builds as Hannah calls in reinforcements to help with their mission and plan a viable and acceptable strategy to stop their enemies in their tracks. The well written scenes and details make it easy for the reader to become immersed in the story while the intriguing events draw them in and refuse to let go and let’s not forget that there is plenty of excitement happening back home with the coyotes and the hellmouth which is causing some additional spice in unexpected ways.
I was kind of worried that I wasn’t going to like Hannah all that much considering her previous behavior, although I did understand where she was coming from, but I have to say that she managed to win me over and I was completely caught up in her and Sean’s story as Desert Guards continues to get better and better and it always seems to have unexpected surprises that add intrigue to the story and keep me guessing as to what’s coming next, which I can’t wait to discover.
