Pirate's Alley

Sentinels of New Orleans, #4

A new threat is looming, war could be brewing, and every relationship that DJ Jaco holds dear will be tested as she is forced to make a stand in this spellbinding Sentinels of New Orleans story.

DJ’s relationship with Alex is on shaky ground and she’s been assigned to babysit Jean Lafitte who has vengeance on his mind during a political hotbed of betrayals, manipulations and power grabs which keeps spine tingling tension and excitement building and readers on their toes throughout the story. Emotional turmoil reigns supreme during all the chaos as duty clashes with love, loyalty with deception and friendship with responsibilities and really whoever believes that keeping a French pirate out of trouble is easy needs to have their head examined and DJ has to do everything including rescuing friends while in the middle of a brutal winter.

This fast paced, smooth flowing and magic flying plot thrills readers with non-stop action, suspense, turmoil and smartass comments (that produces some chuckles) while the strong compelling characters continue to wow readers with their charm, sneakiness, arrogance, and “kick-ass” personalities. There is never a moment for DJ to take a breath which translates to the reader not being able to put the story down because they might miss something and let me just stay that with all the twists, unexpected surprises and political maneuvering in this story you really don’t want to miss a thing.

I really have to envy DJ, I mean how does she manage to stay sane and relatively calm although I do believe eventually she’s going to explode and New Orleans better look out and I must confess that I am in love with Jean Lafitte, he’s such a sexy pirate and I just love how he manages to make things go his way. I was totally spellbound by this story and that ending was super exciting but, OMG I really need to know what happens next… I need the next book soon – like now would be good!

Book Blurb for Pirate's Alley

After vanquishing undead serial killers and discovering the dark secrets of her family history, wizard sentinel DJ Jaco must now stop the coming preternatural war in Suzanne Johnson's Pirate's Alley.

Wizard sentinel DJ Jaco thought she had gotten used to the chaos of her life in post-Katrina New Orleans, but a new threat is looming, one that will test every relationship she holds dear.

Caught in the middle of a rising struggle between the major powers in the supernatural world--the Wizards, Elves, Vampires and the Fae--DJ finds her loyalties torn and her mettle tested in matters both professional and personal.

Her relationship with enforcer Alex Warin is shaky, her non-husband Quince Randolph is growing more powerful, and her best friend Eugenie has a bombshell that could blow everything to Elfheim and back. And that's before the French pirate Jean Lafitte, newly revived from his latest "death," returns to New Orleans with vengeance on his mind. DJ's assignment? Keep the sexy leader of the historical undead out of trouble. Good luck with that.

Duty clashes with love, loyalty with deception, and friendship with responsibility as DJ navigates passion and politics in the murky waters of a New Orleans caught in the grips of a brutal winter that might have nothing to do with Mother Nature.

War could be brewing, and DJ will be forced to take a stand. But choosing sides won't be that easy.
