The characters are strong, compelling and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning while the fast paced and smooth flowing plot holds readers captive with lots of suspense, action and romance. The reader can’t help but get caught up in the story as Lyka who resents having to live with the Theronai holds her secret close and fights every step of the way and Joseph who is being overwhelmed with the demands of being the leader fight’s his attraction for the slayer. Their attraction burns hot and only gets hotter as their story progresses but the relationship is burdened with lots of emotional angst and one very stubborn slayer which results in lots of spark flying conflicts that keeps things real interesting between these two.
Lots of exciting action and well orchestrated suspense draw the reader deeper into the story and the well written scenes and details capture the imagination and bring the story to life. Multiple conflicts happening simultaneously keeps readers on their toes and ensures that there is never a dull moment as the slayer compound is attacked and the demons capture Eric and several slayer young, Ronan is off chasing his woman who seems to have some unusual secrets and Lyka and Joseph’s explosive courtship spices things up as they try to find and rescue the captured slayers.
This fascinating world only gets better as the war rages on and the author introduces more intriguing elements and interesting characters. I was completely enthralled in this book from the very beginning and couldn’t put it down until I had read every last word and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.
