As a Navy pilot, Glen has mixed feelings about his submissive needs. His first and only Dom had died three years ago and, with the exception of one horrendous attempt with a new Dom, Glen has denied his needs. Feeling restless and fractured, he returns to his old club. Derek is immediately attracted to the gorgeous man who seems to be having second thoughts about being in the club. He senses Glen's need to be controlled. From the first, there is a strong connection between the two, but Derek has lost someone as well and is reluctant to start a relationship. However, the chemistry is powerful and the men fit each other. Old fears and new challenges will push Glen and Derek as Christmas looms before them.
This is part of the Men of Honor series but will stand alone. I love this series. Glen and Derek's relationship is fast moving and incredibly hot. Even though it's a shorter story, the author still gives us a look into the men's souls. The journey to love is an angst-filled one; although not as angst-filled as the previous books. The scenes are emotional and erotic. I love the fact that Ms. Jakes clearly writes a BDSM romance but allows each set of characters to determine what form the D/s relationship will take. It's not about the rules, it's about the people and what works for them. I highly recommend starting at the beginning with the first book Bound By Honor. This series is an excellent read and I can't wait for the next.
Can two men let go of the past in order to find their future together?
When helo pilot Glen Rhodes flies Navy SEALs into the most dangerous places on earth, he has nerves of steel. Since his trusted Dom’s death three years ago, though, the thought of submitting makes him panic.
Determined to move on and long past ready to release the adrenaline rush from his job, Glen returns to home ground—and to the bar he hasn’t had the heart to enter for three long years. There, he meets a man who seems to fit naturally into the void.
Derek Mann has suffered his own losses, and he isn’t looking for permanent. Easy conquests don’t interest him, either. One look at Glen’s proud military bearing and sad eyes tells him that he has a challenge on his hands. And that winning Glen’s trust will unleash something wild and beautiful.
The plan is to tread lightly. But from the first touch of skin on skin, there’s no holding back…except when it comes to their deepest emotions. A Christmas Eve crisis pushes them both to their limits, leaving them no choice but to let go of the past...or let it pull them apart.
Warning: Contains rough language, rougher sex and warriors who fall hard for each other.
