I love apocalyptic sci-fi especially when it's combined with a hot m/m romance. It gets my attention. I had high hopes of finding a new series when I read the blurb for The Last Cowboy. Unfortunately, I couldn't connect with characters and the back story lacked any real detail. I liked the concept but this a sex story…not a story with sex. It felt like the only connection Benjamin and Cody had was physical. Most of the book is about the sex. I really missed the romance. There was little plot development and the story ends abruptly. While this read may appeal to some, it just didn't work for me.
A bit about the story: A plague has decimated the population on Earth. Those who survived are scattered. Benjamin works the land in order to survive. He's been alone for a long time. When a man on the run seeks shelter, Benjamin is attracted to the stranger. But Cody has secrets that could get them both killed.
When the world ends, can a tough cowboy find true love?
The world suffers a plague that wipes out most of the population. For Benjamin, the last cowboy, it is a lonely existence. He spends his days on a farm and dreaming of someone to spend the rest of this miserable life with. That is until Cody arrives...
Cody has secrets, but the more time he spends with the lonely cowboy makes those lies harder to conceal. For this ‘in the closet’ virgin, life got a little more complicated, especially when that secret comes to the farm to kill them all. Heat Rating: 3 / Word Count: 14,680
