Cursed by a sorceress, Alexander cannot control his shape-shifting. He uses an amulet to help but still shifts in times of great emotion. Hoping to get some answers, Alex has been searching for the descendants of the woman who cursed him. Belle Beaumont's mother was one of those descendants. Her father has control of the family's herbal company and is about to lose it to Alex. He expects her to use her 'charms' to persuade Alex to not call in the loans. There is an instant attraction between Belle and Alex, but both have secrets. When Belle finds out what Alex really wants, can she forgive his deception?
This was an interesting shifter story in that it doesn't really focus on shifting. It's more about the people involved and the nature of curses. Alex and Belle are very likeable characters and their sexual attraction is sizzling. Belle is so much more than just her physical appearance. Her courage and loyalty are what attract Alex. The plot moves along at a nice pace and there are a few interesting surprises. The sex is very hot but its Belle and Alex's connection that drives the story. They can't deny their feelings despite the sense of betrayal each perceives. Enjoyable read for a relaxing Saturday afternoon.
