Enter the world of the pirate with Dreamspinner's Cross Bones anthology. These 15 short stories span centuries, oceans and worlds. From the 18th century Caribbean to the modern day African coast to an interstellar spaceship, this anthology has it all and it's all about the Pirate. Always charming, arrogant and, of course, sexy, these men will stop at nothing to find their 'treasure' - no matter where he may be hiding.
This is really enjoyable anthology. Each of the stories offers a different take on the quintessential pirate. Some are full of rollicking adventure while others tackle real world problems. The men work hard and love harder. All of the stories are well done but I did have a few favorites. Captain Merrick by Rebecca Cohen tells the story of two long lost friends on the opposite side of the law. In On the Wings of Lir, Riley Shane places her pirate on an airship stealing precious cargo from an evil lord. And finally, Ghosts of Jupiter by Jana Denardo, which I think is worth the purchase of the book on its own, is my favorite. Allesandro Bellomi is everything a space-going pirate should be - courageous, cunning and deadly. Telek is a chimera, a genetically altered creature bred to kill. Enslaved by his creator, Telek has known only brutality until he meets Al. What follows is a touching and exciting tale.
I can recommend this anthology to pirate lovers everywhere. Hot and steamy sex with action and emotion, all packed into a short story. With fifteen to choose from, there's something for everyone.
Ahoy, me proud beauty, shiver me timbers! I ask ye to sail me jollyboat on the high seas, lubber, but will ye dare to accept? On offer be a pirate's life full of danger and risk, and not just to yer neck, but to yer very virgin heart! There's many a bodice to be ripped--or perhaps I should say many a codpiece to be snapped--and should ye be graced enough to cross bones with a corsair, don't be an addlepate! Heave ho, lad, handsomely, and show him how ye bury yer treasure!
Pirates didn't only sail the high seas in historical times. Modern-day renegades and futuristic rebels are just as ripe for adventure and plunder. No matter the time, place, or circumstances, bad boys steal affection as often as they salvage treasure, and in these stories of romance, a rogue's black heart always conceals a center of gold.
