When Pearl, a beloved elderly neighbor of Texanna Keith asked her for a peculiar favor, she thought the woman was getting barmy, but decided to go along with her request out of curiosity. However, Texanna soon found herself on a passenger train headed to Waco, carrying old clothes in a moth-eaten carpetbag, wearing a wedding ring and a locket.
Although she did not believe in time-travel, she suddenly found herself transported to 1880 Waco, Texas, where the town’s residents heartily welcomed her return after four years. Especially happy were her husband and young son. Never married, certainly childless, and now unable to return to 2008 San Antonio, Texanna was not happy with her situation.
After four years, Marshall Royce Dyson still mourned the loss of his wife, but knew he needed to move on. After his wife disappeared, he searched a 100-mile radius around Waco, but never found anything to suggest where Pearl had gone.
Now a strangely dressed woman who looked enough like Pearl to be her twin suddenly appears in town. Claiming she is a time traveler from the future doesn’t endear her to Royce, nor does her strange ways. However, if she really is his wife, he is determined to make their marriage work. After all, Garrett needs a mother, and Royce has desires of his own including providing Garrett with brothers and sisters.
With My Heart Will Find Yours, Linda LaRoque has written a marvelous story of time-travel between present-day 2008 and life in Waco in 1880. Her story appears to stay true to the times, as she has her heroine smoothly traveling back and forth. Pearl’s story, and therefore Texanna’s, will seem believable even to those unfamiliar with transcendence of time.
The appealing characters and deft use of honest emotions will draw readers into this captivating page-turner. The reader will be drawn to the love Royce had for Pearl and now, understandably, with Texanna. Although the story line is unusual, it still comes across as believable. This is a must read for any western romance lover.
