When Harry Met Molly

Impossible Bachelor Series, Book 1

When Harry Met Molly by Kieran Kramer introduces the Impossible Bachelors who are a group of men that are challenged by the Prince Regent to a ribald contest that compares their respective mistresses.  Harry Traemore is the second son and has been tarred by a series of unfortunate events in his lifetime, most recently his abandonment by his mistress at the onset of the contest.  Lady Mary (Molly) Fairbanks has known her neighbor Harry since well before they both were tarnished by their contribution to a mild scandal involving her sister and his brother but they are both aghast to rediscover each other under compromising circumstances.  The situation worsens as they concoct the ill-advised scheme to have Molly pose as Harry’s mistress for the duration of the contest with the understanding that his victory will result in him securing an acceptable husband for her.  They get to know each other and themselves as they strive to win the wager but the prize may not be what they desire after all.

A different slant on a Regency romance with a couple of unconventional characters.  An intriguing look at the pervasive effects of mistakes early in one’s life coupled with a different slant on the dissolute actions of the Prince Regent.  The main characters are a bit stilted in places but there are several nice sensual scenes in a storyline that is entertaining and several of the secondary characters are worthy of their own stories.

He’s always been a player.

Dashing Lord Harry Traemore is perfectly content to live out his days in the pursuit of pleasure. But when he’s named by the Prince Regent as one of society’s “Impossible Bachelors,” Harry is drafted into a ribald romantic wager. The rules of engagement are scandalously simple: The bachelor whose mistress wins the title of “Most Delectable Companion” gets to remain unmarried. Harry is utterly unconcerned about his status…until his latest lightskirt abandons him.

Who will win this game of love?

Enter Lady Molly Fairbanks. Harry’s childhood friend—actually, “foe” is more like it—is the most unlikely companion of all. She’s attractive but hot-headed, and in no mood for games. Besides, what could the self-indulgent Harry possibly know about what makes a woman delectable? It’s time for Molly to teach him a lesson once and for all…but will it lead to “happily ever after?”
