This very gritty and spicy contemporary tale is a compelling yet stark and violent picture of the life of those who live in a motorcycle club culture. The intense and sensual scenes are interspersed with a glimpse of the rigid hierarchy and power struggle that takes place both within the clubs and between them and it is all overshadowed by the very dark events that shape both of the main characters. I am not familiar with this genre of story and I have to say that some of the occurrences are a little outside of my willing suspension of disbelief...no matter how hot they are...especially the porno sequence during the first physical meeting between the hero and heroine. That notwithstanding, there are definitely dramatic scenes in this fairly quick read and the story itself is intriguing (although occasionally confusing) and makes me want to learn more about the determined and sexy characters who populate this culture. Definitely not a book for the squeamish as both male and female characters undergo significantly traumatic experiences but a fascinating introduction to the series.
