“Touch of Red” by Laura Griffin impressed me with yet another combination of dedicated and very capable investigators and exciting and suspenseful action. I particularly enjoyed the complexity of these characters and the unfolding of their histories, especially since these folks link to previous stories in the series. I think that what fascinates me most about the stories in this series is that not only are these highly capable and knowledgeable people but these intense folks are dedicated, loyal, and almost obsessive about their search for justice. Naturally, that adds to the delicious tension as heads are butted because of determined pursuit of information, but I love watching them pool their resources and find a way to compromise with each other to achieve their mutual goals.
Ms. Griffin is one of my go-to authors for excitement and suspense, well-developed characters, and a compelling plot. I am always excited to see a new book by her, even as I groan because I know I am going to be up late into the night, caught in her spell once again. This is one of my favorite stories in the series, and I can’t wait to discover who the next person in the spotlight will be.
This romantic suspense story is part of the exciting ‘Tracers’ series and follows fingerprint expert Brooke Porter as she strives to solve a violent murder. Her close contact with Detective Sean Byrne while they investigate allows him to explore his attraction to her, but she needs to deal with her past and survive long enough to figure out whether it is mutual.
New York Times bestselling author Laura Griffin “delivers the goods” (Publishers Weekly) again with this gripping, “spellbinding” (Fresh Fiction) thriller full of twists and turns—the twelfth in her bestselling Tracers series.
When crime scene investigator Brooke Porter arrives at the home of a murdered woman, the only thing more shocking than the carnage is the evidence that someone escaped the scene. But where is this witness now? A thorough search of the area yields more questions than answers, and before Brooke even packs up her evidence kit, she’s made it her goal to find the witness and get them out of harm’s way.
Homicide detective Sean Byrne has seen his share of bloody crime scenes, but this one is particularly disturbing, especially because Brooke Porter is smack in the middle of it. Sean has had his eye on the sexy CSI for months, and he’s determined to help her with her current case—even if it means putting his attraction on hold so he and Brooke can track down a murderer. But as the investigation—and their relationship—heats up, Sean realizes that keeping his work and his personal life separate is more complicated than he ever imagined; especially when the killer sets his sights on Brooke.
With Griffin’s signature “fully fleshed characters, dry humor, and tight plotting” (Publishers Weekly), Touch of Red demonstrates why she is one of the most acclaimed and popular authors of sexy thrillers today.
