A sizzling and poignant romance that deftly explores the complications and consequences of miscommunication and deception as multiple lives are entangled in an awkward set of relationships. The author does a nice job of weaving a compelling story although I was a bit annoyed by the heroine’s failure to finally develop enough self-confidence and backbone to force a confrontation at a crucial point in the relationship, not to mention her wavering decisions about who she is going to accept in her life. The prequel to this story definitely enhances it but is not absolutely required reading to understand what is taking place. I enjoyed the quirky characters who make appearances in this emotional and very entertaining read and look forward to reading more stories by this very entertaining author.
“Texas Two Step” by Cynthia Alba is a touching contemporary erotic romance novel that centers around Olivia Montgomery who has returned to Oklahoma to support her best friend Emily by serving as her maid of honor. The past relationship she has had with the sexy best man Mitch Landry threatens to rekindle into another torrid affair, despite their respective marriages and divorces but there are rather major hurdles that may abruptly snuff the fires of their attraction. Olivia will have to choose between her paleontologist ex-husband and the sexy cowboy who changed her life forever six years ago but all that she knows is someone is going to end up with a broken heart and she struggles to make sure that it isn’t her.
Their love never died, but her secrets could break his trust beyond repair.
After six years and too much self-recrimination, rancher Mitch Landry is ready to admit he was wrong. He’d loved Olivia Montgomery but commitment wasn’t high on his list back then. That was his first mistake. He’s just divorced his second, and he’s set to do whatever it takes to convince Olivia to give him another try.
Through hard work, determination and more than a few tears, Olivia survived the break-up with Mitch. She’s rebuilt her life around her business and the son she loves more than life itself. She’s not proud of the mistakes she’s made—particularly the secrets she’s kept—but when life hands you manure, you use it to make something better of yourself…lest you get stuck in it.
At a hot, muggy Dallas wedding, they reconnect. Olivia’s first instinct is to play it cool, but after one devastating kiss things flare real out of control, real fast. Maybe a quick roll in the hay will get him out of her system once and for all. Funny thing about hay though, once it’s tangled in your hair, getting it out risks revealing things that were never meant to see the light of day.
Warning: Contains hot sex, a vindictive ex-wife, and hot chocolate chip cookies.
