“Talk of the Town” by Caitlin Ricci is a m/m romance novella featuring Julian James who has returned to his home town (accompanied by his charming young son Joey) to lick his wounds and rebuild his life. His meeting with reclusive Garrett McArgyle marks a change in both men’s lives as each deals with his past decisions and starts to consider a future.
I enjoyed meeting these guys but the story was a bit too short for me. The insta-lust and lovers-before-friends progression of their relationship was a bit awkward, in my opinion, and I would like more of a connection before they get intimate, or at least a glimpse of them getting to know each other better. I think this is a great start but needs to be explored in much more detail.
After ending an abusive relationship, Julian comes back home to live with his parents and his son in a small town. Life is simple, and he's happy about that. When he delivers groceries to Garrett he finds a grumpy blind man who just wants to be left alone, but they form a fast friendship with the promise of more.
