Reach for the Sky

Wolffe Peak, #1

This fun and sexy paranormal romantic suspense story has a female who definitely makes a memorable first impression on the alpha male who is used to getting his way. There are several deliciously sensual encounters as well as entertaining scenes showcasing the rocky path of their relationship but I was a little taken aback by some of the developments, especially at the end, which made this a less than an ideal happy ever after ending for me. There are some issues which are not quite resolved, and I would like a little more depth to the characters, but I suspect that this will come as some of the secondary folks get their own time in the spotlight. There are also a few pesky editing issues that were a little distracting but on the whole, I think this was a nice start to an exciting new series featuring an intriguing werewolf pack.

“Reach for the Sky” by Gwen Knight is the first book of the ‘Wolffe Peak’ series and features Skylar Callahan, who is a werewolf serving as a public advocate for her race. Unfortunately, she has attracted a stalker, as well as the attentions of an alpha, Wyatt Turner, who is also attracted to the feisty female, despite their rocky beginning. Wyatt has his hands full dealing with his wolf’s demands and finding a way to keep the stubborn Skylar safe, whether she wants his help or not, but convincing her that she’s his mate may take more time than he has, if her stalker has his way.
