Morgan's Hunter

Book One In The Bodyguards Of L.A. County Series

This romantic suspense novel provides an exciting tale and introduces a security agency populated by intriguing warriors. The complicated emotional wounds that the hero of this story bears makes him a somewhat difficult person to sympathize with as he has not healed sufficiently and may never do so. The prickly relationship between the hero and heroine makes their attraction a bit hard to believe, especially when it is undermined by lies and half-truths, and it seesaws too much for me. There is a flurry of action and twists and turns which make this an intriguing story and a nice introduction to the series. I look forward to the stories of the other men of the Security team.

“Morgan’s Hunter” by Cate Beauman is book one of the ‘Bodyguards of L.A. County’ series which features Hunter Phillips, a man tormented by the memory of the best friend he lost during combat, but who has become an important member of the Ethan Cooke Security team. Biologist Morgan Taylor is reluctant to accept a bodyguard even though she is determined to find out why three of her close-knit team members were murdered during their research in the backcountry of Yellowstone. Their reluctant teamwork may be all that will save them when they discover the unexpected threats that their investigation uncovers but the attraction that they develop for one another may not last beyond their return to civilization.
