This very sensual read has many of the elements that Ms. Carew does so well, the delightfully spicy interludes and the deliciously dominant male but it didn’t quite resonate with me, probably because I found the heroine irksome. The severity of her injuries warrant a more significant punishment for those who perpetrated and facilitated their infliction and the seesaw reactions that she has to the hero are confusing. Given her own actions, it is difficult for me to justify her final confrontation with him as his reaction to the initial rejection is not unexpected given her unprofessional behavior, no matter how warranted. Her weak response to one of the villains highlights Kate’s inability to take a stand for herself and makes one wonder about the healthiness of any relationship she undertakes as she vacillates about her desires to submit. Not my favorite read by this talented author.
“His to Command” by Opal Carew is the erotic tale of Kate Hayward who fled Dominant Matt Pearce after a horrific experience convinced her that she was right to fear her submissive behavior around him. Despite the fact that two years have elapsed and she has established an entirely new life in a different city, it only takes one meeting to rekindle some of the feelings which each of them resists for different reasons. There are many obstacles to a resumption of their relationship and it will require a lot of compromise on both of their parts in order to discover whether they should truly trust one another. The problem is that there are still factors that may tear them apart which may end the reconciliation before it can deepen into a serious relationship.
From author Opal Carew comes the first sizzling segment in the erotic serial novel His to Command that explores one woman's surrender to desire at the hands of a dominant man.
