Dream Lover: Paranormal Tales of Erotic Romance is a collection of 17 short but spicy stories edited by Kristina Wright. The subjects range from a ghost who becomes corporeal enough to have sex with a fervent fan to a gargoyle that frees a prostitute from her oppressed lifestyle. Several intimate encounters center around food and the kitchen with different ingredients serving as the catalyst for a sensual indulgence, whether it be sugar or vanilla and the participants are as varied as merpeople described by Delilah Devlin, vampires, ghosts or angels yet all are linked by their willingness to participate in wickedly delicious carnal encounters. Release is a common theme throughout many of the stories which is mirrored in the sexual culmination that lovers share in sizzling encounters that can involve spiritual and physical possession, a passion that is shared over the years and across generations. Most of the tales involve trans-species matings and hopeless yearnings that threaten to separate incandescent relationships forever, whether through inimical external forces such as Ericka Hiatt’s demon threatening to separate a Daoine Sidhe and his mortal lover or internal forces such as a unstated desire for pain and pleasure from a fallen angel that threatens his existence as described by Kristina Wright.
An imaginative collection of short and arousing tales involving a breadth of paranormal characters. Nice plot twists involving Lucy Feltouse’s bored succubus or Kate Pearce’s man of one’s dreams locked in a tower give variety to the tales which feature a mixture of familiar and new authors who show their dexterity at creating hot scenes between unusual characters in all too brief tales. Some stories would benefit from a bit more plot and character development but overall a nice spicy read.
Supernaturally sensual and captivating, Dream Lover is a feast of fanciful delights. Kristina Wright, editor of the popular Fairy Tale Lust, presents a potent potion of fun and sexy tales filled with male fairies and clairvoyant scientists, as well as darkly erotica tales of ghosts, shapeshifters, and possession. Dream Lover asks the reader to explore the realm of the otherworldly and answer the question . . . who is your dream lover?
