Broslin Creek Series #1

“Deathwatch” by Dana Marton is part of the mesmerizing “Broslin Creek” romantic suspense series. Katherine Concord is an unexpected tenant who Murph Dolan discovers when he returns from his fateful deployment. He is surprised to realize that she has almost as many scars as he does and she certainly has plenty of secrets. Their mutual distrust and dislike does not create an auspicious beginning but they soon learn that each can offer the other an unexpected benefit...but the question becomes, will they survive long enough to explore their unwilling attraction to each other?

This is another action-packed suspenseful tale that gives a glimpse of the lives of a woman who has survived multiple traumatic events in her life and a man who bears survivor’s guilt and other unseen scars to go with his physical ones. The tension continues to ratchet up as danger threatens and the author’s ability to create a compelling yet succinct tale is demonstrated once again. I really enjoy this series because the interconnecting threads link the stories yet each stands alone and is unique. The heroines in these stories are always proactive and manage to overcome sometimes very horrific experiences by never giving up and through being willing to learn and adapt which makes them wonderful protagonists and they demonstrate a wonderful blend of strength, compassion and vulnerability. The eerie allusion to psychic powers only adds to the allure of the story which provides a gripping and enjoyable read and I anxiously await more additions to the series.
