“Call to Honor” by Tawny Weber is an exciting introduction to an elite group of Navy SEALs, as tension and heat ramp up with every page. The gradually unfolding mystery is contrasted with the attraction that builds despite all of the reasons it shouldn’t. I enjoyed watching Lt. Diego Torres as he comes to know Harper Maclean and her engaging young son and becomes ensnared by them both although I was frustrated that he allowed things to go so far despite knowing better. There are charismatic secondary characters who will hopefully get their own time in the spotlight and an overall mystery that will need to be solved, but there is a suspenseful arc that is completed for this particular story. It is sometimes awkward to introduce a series and establish a cast of characters who are intriguing enough to carry more than one story, but I think the author has done a great job of setup and I look forward to reading more exciting stories starring these men. I suspect young Nathan will figure prominently in a subsequent story given the way events have unfolded thus far and look forward to seeing how he has progressed.
This romantic suspense novel is the first in the ‘SEAL Brotherhood’ series and showcases the members of an elite team known as Poseidon who have to deal with both loss and betrayal after a mission goes terribly wrong. Diego Torres is tasked to investigate a teammate’s widow but the deeper he gets into his role, the more complicated things become as she and her son become more and more important to him, causing him to struggle with conflicting loyalties and priorities.
The Poseidon team are hard-bodied, fiercely competitive navy SEALs. But when a sensitive mission goes disastrously wrong, three of the team's finest will have to trust their hearts and instincts to uncover the truth…
"No man left behind" is inscribed in the DNA of every SEAL and Lieutenant Diego Torres is no exception. But with a team member killed—and the body missing—Diego's honor is sorely tested. Now his career and reputation are on the line, and a traitor is hiding among them. Diego wants answers…and only one woman has them.
Single mom Harper Maclean has two priorities—raising her son Nathan and starting a new life. Her mysterious new neighbor may be impossibly charming, but Diego asks too many questions about her past—and about the father of her child. Questions she fears will reveal her burning attraction for Diego, and ultimately put them all in danger's path.
