Back to Black

"Back to Black" by A.J. Llewellyn is an erotic novella set on Oahu, Hawaii. Quinn Novak and his partner Jackie Howe have been loaned to a neighboring division to help with the investigation into a rash of burglaries that are targeting homes undergoing fumigation. Jackie is dealing with marital problems and Quinn is reeling from the discovery that his former lover, J.D. Justus, is heading the investigation. A stakeout of a potential target house leads to a dream-like sizzling sexual encounter with two attractive men but results in the arrest of a single suspect. A second stakeout leads to an entirely different result but Quinn discovers that having J.D. at his side will make all of the difficulties in his life much easier to cope with.

An entertaining light read that alternates delightfully steamy scenes with vivid descriptions that conjure up the ambience of island life. Quinn is an engaging character who tries to be supportive to all of the people in his life while dealing with his own issues and performing his duties as a police officer. Hopefully there will be more of his tales in the future.
