This beautiful military romance story gives a brief and poignant glimpse of the struggles and sacrifices inherent in the lives of those who serve in the military. The author provides a vivid snapshot of the breadth of wounds that can be suffered by those who serve; not only those who are injured in the line of duty, but also those who are left behind when the ultimate sacrifice is required during that service.
The reader is reminded that there are emotional and physical wounds that can be difficult to overcome, and that there needs to be a strong support team to aid in healing, which can be a never-ending process that requires patience, understanding and acceptance. I love the beautiful word portraits that Ms. Scott pens, creating a wonderfully romantic and touching portrait of the warriors she portrays, such as is seen in the following passage: “He kissed her like it was his first taste of pleasure in months. Because it was. Her response was a deep, shuddering thing between them. One hand curled around his forearm as he claimed them both, held nothing back. Poured everything he was into that kiss and told her without words that he wasn’t giving up on her without a fight.”
As usual, this story provides a delightful combination of poignancy and sensuality and invests the reader with a strong connection to the characters who are so richly depicted. Keep a tissue close at hand and enjoy another heart-tugging tale in this wonderful series.

From USA Today Bestselling author Jessica Scott comes an all new novella about a woman who came back from war changed and the man who loves her enough not to let her go.
All Major Patrick MacLean wanted was Christmas with the woman and child who were his family in everything but name. But Captain Samantha Egan has come back from the war a different woman than the one who left - and she doesn't know if she can love him anymore.
But neither of them counted on the determination of a little girl they both call daughter and if Natalie has her wish, her parents may have no idea what's coming for them. It's going to take Christmas miracle to bring these two wounded warriors back from the edge of a broken heart.
