“The Replacement Crush” starts slow and it focused so much on Vivian and her replacement crush list that after first 50 pages I was wondering should I put a story side for a while, or give it another chance. I decide to do the second and I was not sorry. Yes, the story is slow and it took a while before things start to heat between Vivian and Dallas, but once the plot started moving I couldn’t put the book down.
The story revolves around Vivian, who is also the narrator, and her mission to find someone safer who can replace the guy who broke her heart. Vivian is such a lovable character, she is a book nerd, she works in her mother’s bookstore, she runs a romance novel book club, and she writes a romance novels book blog. She is a bit insecure, but all her imperfections make her the perfect heroine. Dallas is McNerdy (the nick name is taken from the story). He is thoughtful, gentle, good looking, and perfect, but not too perfect.
Dallas and Vivian are such a great match, but like most teenagers they are insecure and a bit shy to pursue their relationship. So the reader will have to be patient and read on in order to find out how it will all end. Beside Vivian and Dallas the story is full of colorful secondary characters, from the old ladies from a retirement home to the incognito rock stars.
I applaud author Lisa Brown Roberts, she did amazing job again. This is a very layered story with lot of interesting twists and turns. There are also a few very serious moments, a bit of swearing and a lot of pop culture reference. “The Replacement Crush” is a very empowering and highly satisfying story about love, friendship and being brave. I highly recommend it.
When Vivian’s heart gets broken she is willing to do anything to keep it safe from another heartbreak. So she decides to make a list of safe crushes. Dating might be a mission, but falling in love definitely isn’t. While being busy protecting her heart she is slowly falling in love with a new cute guy in school, Dallas. But will they find their HEA or will Vivian remain suborn and stick to her plan?
True love can't be strategized.
After book blogger Vivian Galdi’s longtime crush pretends their secret summer kissing sessions never happened, Vivian creates a list of safe crushes, determined to protect her heart.
But nerd-hot Dallas, the sweet new guy in town, sends the mission and Vivian’s zing meter into chaos. While designing software for the bookstore where Vivian works, Dallas wages a counter-mission.
Operation Replacement Crush is in full effect. And Dallas is determined to take her heart off the shelf.
