Afraid of the dark...never again after you read this amazing collection of creatures that come out at night in rhyming verse format. Be sure to turn off the lights and the book will come alive with all the magic only a book can bring.
Through rhyme and poetry the author brings the information of these incredible creatures to life with the accompaniment of an incredible illustration technique of using high definition fluorescent inks as well as glow-in-the-dark effects to make the pages jump out at the reader.
My recommendation as an elementary school librarian to parents and teachers would be that this book is one that will grow with your child as they develop in their learning. The rhymes are easy enough to follow for young pre-readers, while still being informative enough that older elementary aged students will gain knowledge as they read for enjoyment. Chuck full-of vibrant colors, details in the dark and light areas of each page, and details in each of the animals and creatures, this book will hold readers of all ages captive on their journey into this beautiful night life.
At the end of the story, in the back of the book, there is a page titled "Shining Light on Nocturnal Creatures" that offers additional information on each specific creature spotlighted in the book. This feature, along with so many others, is the reason I can see any child wanting this to be their nighttime routine as it makes "Lights Out, Night's Out", a fun adventure children of any age would be looking forward to reading each night.
The thought of bedtime is much brighter with this latest adaption of Lights Out, Night's Out. Featuring glow-in-the-dark ink, along with a portable paperback format, this tale will encourage youngsters of all ages to welcome bedtime. All of the nocturnal creatures from the full-size AniMotion version are here; only this time each sports a special glow-in-the-dark feature. From spinning spiders in sparkling webs to hypnotic hippos with flashing eyes, Lights Out, Night's Out fuses dynamic, glow-in-the-dark illustrations with fun, singsong verse to take children on an imaginative nighttime safari. It's enough to leave little readers clamoring for bedtime.
