Ghouls Rush In is a book that I was looking forward to reading for a while and I'm glad that I had the chance to review it. Overall, this book was a fun and really quick read that kept me entertained throughout. I liked the fact that it was set in New Orleans because it was the perfect location for a spooky story about ghosts.
H.P. Mallory created both interesting characters and an interesting plot, and I loved getting into the mystery of what happened to Drake. I will be interested in reading the next book in the Peyton Clark series to see what else happens to these characters.
This book starts out the series by introducing Peyton who is starting her life over and moving to New Orleans when she finds out she has inherited a house. Peyton quickly learns that there is more to the house than she bargained for though. She is living in a real-life haunted house, with a ghost named Drake, and he is more than your average ghost. Peyton also gets help with her renovations from Ryan.
Ryan is such a sweetie and of course he is easy on the eyes. I loved seeing the banter between Peyton and Ryan, and how they started to fall for each other along the way. Peyton soon becomes drawn to Drake and Ryan, and this is when things get really interesting for her. She has to figure out what she wants out of life, and who she wants to be with.
Do you believe in love after life?
Looking for a fresh start, Peyton Clark becomes the proud owner of a piece of New Orleans history: an Antebellum-era two-story house in the Garden District. It’s going to take time and a fat wallet to restore the fixer-upper to its former glory, but after her recent divorce, Peyton could use the distraction.
It’s not long before Peyton discovers she’s moved into the haunted home of a flirtatious paranormal prankster. She’s receiving kisses from unseen lips and caresses from a ghostly hand, and soon she begins to have vivid dreams, bringing her face-to-face with the incomparably handsome ghost of Drake Montague.
When Peyton grows closer to her general contractor, Ryan Kelly—who is as charming as he is alive—the chill in the air could only suggest Drake’s jealousy from beyond the grave. But even though she’s definitely attracted to and interested in Ryan, Peyton also can’t get Drake out of her dreams, or her heart, as she begins to uncover the frightening truth behind his death a century ago…
