The Awakening

Darkest Powers Series #2

All Chloe Saunders wanted was to be the next Steven Spielberg, instead she finds out she is a necromancer when her abilities come online at the onset of her first period.  Running away from Lyle house where she had been sent to help her deal with the “mental breakdown” she was told she was having seemed like a good idea at the time.  Yet when she is hurt and goes to her aunt Lauren for help, she lands right back in the hands of the people she is trying to get away from. Chloe learns that much is not as it seemed like before.

Now she is on the run with 3 other supernatural kids; a werewolf, a sorcerer and a witch. With abilities that are out of control, they must find help before the Edison Group finds them.  Or die trying.

A huge fan of Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series, I grabbed up the first in this new series eagerly wanting to know what she had come up with now that my teenage daughter might enjoy.   The Summoning drew me into a new world, now in The Awakening, I am drawn even deeper into the mind and world of Kelley Armstrong.  Listed as a YA book, it will entice even those of us that have not qualified as “YOUNG” in a year or so.  Beautifully written, she makes the world of the supernatural seem like a place that almost anyone that is tired with life as a “normal” could totally enjoy.  In a world where finding something to talk to your child about is getting harder and harder, this series can give you something that you both will enjoy talking about together.  I hope that you and your teenager enjoy this new series as much as me and mine will be enjoying them ourselves.

Book Blurb for The Awakening

If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl—someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I'm as far away from normal as it gets. A living science experiment—not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a sinister organization called the Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters, I'm a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control; I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.

Now I'm running for my life with three of my supernatural friends—a charming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch—and we have to find someone who can help us before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.
