Lexie is ecstatic that she is going to marry the love of her life, Ben. At present, he is serving abroad in Afghanistan and will be home next month. The date is set and they plan to be married, at the end of next month, on Christmas Eve.
So in preparation for her upcoming nuptials, she and her mother go wedding dress shopping. Filled with excitement, Lexie stumbles upon a dress hanging in a dim corner of a charity shop and she just can’t help but fall in love with it. Her mother thinks it’s too tattered and worn to be the wedding dress her daughter will wear, but Lexie thinks it’s perfect. Inquiring how much it is, Tracy, the elderly shopkeeper, tells Lexie that the dress isn’t for sale. Pleading with the shopkeeper to reconsider, Tracy begins to talk to Lexie about the details of her wedding and asks, “Is your fiancé a soldier?” Once Tracy finds out that Ben is indeed a soldier, she decides to give the dress to Lexie. In doing so, Tracy tells Lexie the origins of the special dress and explains that it was to be given to just the right person when the time came.
After Lexie makes her donation, because she doesn’t feel right taking it for free, she brings it home. From that day on, Lexie’s life changes forever.
What are some of the strange occurrences that now surround Lexie? Does she find any answers as to why they are happening to her? Do plans fall into place for her and Ben?
Ms. Ireland did a wonderful job with this latest story. It was a pure delight to read and I instantly fell in love with Lexie. I desperately wanted everything to work out for her and Ben. The author did a fantastic job at holding my attention until the very end. I was immediately submerged into the story from the very first page and I couldn’t help but fall in love with the characters. I found one message ringing true for me throughout the story – that love conquers all. This is the second story that I read by Ms. Ireland and I am such a fan of her storytelling. I would highly recommend this story to other readers and I definitely look forward to reading more from this talented author.
