The Baby Interview

Handsome and successful Cole Donovan always gets what he wants. If his devilishly handsome looks don’t succeed at getting what he sets his sights on, than his money usually does the trick. What Cole wants is a child at this stage in his life, but there’s one huge catch. He doesn’t want any of the inconveniences of being married again thanks to his ex-wife, Pam, for being so maniacal and manipulative as she was when they were married. So Cole decides that he will interview candidates to become the surrogate mother to carry his baby and of course, offer the one he chooses a monetary package they just can’t refuse.

Ironically though, the one he sets his sights on isn’t even at his estate to interview for the position. She’s there delivering the three floral arrangements she made and that are routinely delivered to his mansion twice a week. After entering, Lucy Chaple begins to be thoroughly and personally interrogated by Cole. Each question she answers convinces Cole even more that she’s the one that he wants to carry his child. So he decides to ask her out on a date to get to know her better and she accepts. When she finds out the truth behind the date, she tells him she’s the florist that was just making the delivery at his mansion. Cole is taken back a bit by this information.

Does he continue trying to convince Lucy to carry his baby or does he drop the subject with her? Do they hit it off enough to continue to see each other after this debacle of a date? Does Cole eventually get his wish fulfilled of having someone be the surrogate mother of his baby?

I fell in love with the characters from the very beginning and I was immediately pulled into the story from the very first page. I found myself experiencing all the emotions both Lucy and Cole were feeling and I honestly was hoping early on that they both could fill the void they had in each other’s lives. Ms. Terman wove an intricate web of details and emotions within these pages and I felt as if I was part of the story. I highly recommend this story and I eagerly look forward to reading more from this very talented author.
