Rose Hildebrande can’t believe how careless she is to have dropped her cell phone on the ground when there are thousands of people standing around Times Square waiting for the ball to drop New Year’s Eve. Not knowing what to do, she grabs the arm of the person closest to her to ask them if they could help her find her phone. When she does that, she can’t believe just how handsome this gentleman is.
Ian Cumberland is heading to the subway after deciding to leave the New Year’s celebration at Times Square. A frantic woman grabs his arm and she’s in such a frenzied state of mind because she dropped her cell phone and can’t find it amongst the crowd of people standing everywhere. He decides to help her out and when he finds it and hands it to her, he notices how gorgeous she is. Getting caught up in the countdown that’s going on around them, Ian leans over to kiss Rose. Things seem to change for the both of them with that one simple kiss.
Do they ever see each other again after this New Year’s encounter? Are they destined to be together or was it just a few minutes of bliss?
Ian and Rose seem to be such opposites in certain aspects and so much alike in others. I didn’t like Rose’s indecisiveness throughout the story. In my opinion, it took away from her character. I liked Ian more than Dr. Sinclair, the man Rose was dating at the time, because he wasn’t pretentious. Even though the doctor could provide for her more than Ian probably ever could, I felt Ian was a better match in the end. Overall, I enjoyed this story and look forward to seeing what the author may have available in the near future.
