When aspiring author Keary Galloway heads to her very first writer’s conference she’s excited and scared all the same. She’s excited because she wants to learn everything about the writing business to help her be as successful as possible and she’s scared senseless because she has two appointments to pitch her story to editors.
After she arrives at her hotel, she settles into her room and meets up with her fellow romance writers to check out what’s going on that night. But when she finds herself attracted to one of the male romance book cover models, something inside her awakens again after being dormant since her divorce one year ago.
Devin Barnett can’t believe that Keary Galloway, his high school crush, is staying in his hotel. He’d do anything to make her notice him this time around and has no worries that she’ll recognize him because he looks completely different now from his old nerdy look back then. So without batting an eye, he decides to masquerade himself as a cover model to get closer to her. He wants her once and for all and he’ll do anything to call her his own.
Does Keary ever realize who this cover model is that she’s got her eye on? Can this turn into something more serious than just a fling during the conference? Can Devin find it in himself to finally tell Keary who he really is?
I found this story to be entertaining and I loved the storyline Ms. Elgabri created. I loved how Keary overcame her fears of attending her first writer’s conference and pitching her book to editors – something that completely terrified her. When Devin came into the picture, I had hoped that his cover wouldn’t be blown before he thought about admitting to Keary who he really was. Once they were together, I wasn’t certain how things would turn out for either of them because it seemed things grew very complicated very quickly. The author did a nice job creating likeable characters and I laughed out loud a time or two with her sense of humor. Overall, this was an enjoyable story for me.
