When Elizabeth Bennett’s family receives word that Jane, the eldest daughter, has fallen ill during her travels to Netherfield Park, Elizabeth decides it is best that she immediately sets out to be at her sister’s side. Before leaving home, she’s informed of some rumors that she at first pays no mind to. She hears that supposedly Netherfield Park is haunted. Once she finally arrives though, it’s hard not to wonder if the place is really haunted with all the odd occurrences going on around her. She’ll stop at nothing to try and get to the bottom of whether the country manor is truly haunted or not and what better way to find these answers than to have arrogant, but very handsome, Mr. Darcy right next to her. How is her sister’s health when she arrives at the manor? Is Netherfield Park really haunted?
Ms. Swan has given her readers a story they can truly get lost in from the very first page. The characters were so realistic and the surroundings were described in such detail, that I felt I was at the eerie manor myself. All along I wondered if the haunted rumors were true and I had hoped that Elizabeth would get to the bottom of it quickly. When Mr. Darcy entered into the picture, although very arrogant, I was happy he assisted Elizabeth in trying to discover the truth about the place. Ms. Swan has taken the story Pride and Prejudice and has added just enough modernizations to the storyline to make readers of today want to devour these pages. I highly recommend this story and I look forward to the next installment. Well done, Ms. Swan!
