When Abby Foster learns that she has received an inheritance of a rundown mansion in the Maine coastal town of Jewell Cove, she at first is set on selling it as soon as possible. Why the house was left to her by an aunt she never knew is the least of her worries right now. When she arrives at the property, it’s in shambles. It’s very rundown and falling apart. She decides to stay long enough to have it refurbished than she plans on following through with selling it. Ironically, once she meets the popular and very qualified contractor, Tom Arseneault, things start taking on a whole new perspective for her. Is the attraction mutual between Abby and Tom? Does Tom convince her not to sell the mansion?
I loved this story right from the start. I was immediately pulled into the storyline and loved the mysterious air that was carried right through to the very end of the book. I wanted to not only know why her aunt never reached out to her while she was alive, but also what the hidden secrets were with this side of the family. When Tom came into the picture, I easily fell in love with him and hoped that him and Abby would hook up. This author knows how to write stories that pull her readers in and makes us lose track of the time while we’re visiting her characters in Jewell Cove, Maine. This was an easy flowing story that I just didn’t want to end. I highly recommend this first book in the Jewell Cove Series and I eagerly look forward to seeing what Ms. Alward has up her sleeve for the remaining books. Well done!
