Even though Leah Fisher hasn’t been very close to her father lately, when she receives the call from the Singapore police that he has been killed, things seem to blur right past her. She packs some things and makes the necessary last minute arrangements to catch the next flight out of London. In the process, Leah’s roommate, Aimee, decides to lend a hand and goes onto Leah’s Facebook account to update her status that she’ll be out of the country for a bit. After having a conversation with Leah about old boyfriends, Aimee takes it upon herself to search out Toran James, who is probably still residing in Singapore. Ironically, after Aimee sends the friend request unbeknownst to Leah, Toran surprisingly accepts. Once Leah finds out that Toran has accepted the request, she finds a message asking if she’d be interested in meeting up soon. Leah goes with her heart and tells him that she’ll be in Singapore soon and they can meet up. What happens when Leah and Toran see each other after all these years have passed?
Ms. Hanna has another successful hit on her hands here. I fell in love with her Big Honey Dog Mystery Series and I couldn’t wait to read her first adult story. She did not disappoint me at all. She created characters that were totally believable and completely relatable to her readers. I loved the mystery and intrigue laced throughout the entire story and I couldn’t wait to see how the story ended. I wanted to see if Leah and Toran could have another go at what they had together as teenagers. This is one author who is definitely going places in her career. I highly recommend this first book in the First Love Series and I’m eagerly looking forward to the next book. Well done, Ms. Hanna!
First love. Second chance.
All they have to do is stay alive…
Following her father’s mysterious death in Singapore, Leah leaves her life in London and returns to the island that was her childhood home - braced to confront her past. Toran James may have been the boy her fourteen-year-old heart yearned for, but the magic of stolen glances and first kisses faded with his betrayal. The enigmatic man she meets upon her return, though, is nothing like her memory, and the past holds more secrets than she realised. Was her father’s death really an accident? Someone is out to silence Leah – and that someone might be the man she is rapidly falling in love with… again.
