Sugar Baby

Confections, Candies, Cakes, & Other Delicious Recipes for Cooking with Sugar

In this cookbook, we learn how to make many sweets that any person would love. From confections to candies and even cakes, there are plenty of recipes to choose from to satisfy any sweet tooth in your family. The book is presented in an easy to understand format and the author provides plenty of tips and techniques for you to try while working on the wide variety of recipes offered in this book.

I’ve eagerly been awaiting this book to become available again on Netgalley so I could review it and I was not disappointed when I was finally given the opportunity. The wait was well worth it to me. Although I haven’t tried any of the recipes yet because I don’t have all the right tools to help me work the recipes I want to try, I will be trying them as soon as I can. There were so many that I really wanted to try, but to give you a sampling of what you can make in your own kitchen, here are just a few recipes I’ve picked that I want to try first: Rock Candy, Simple Syrup, Vanilla Pastry Cream, Pudding Pops and Fudgy Frosting. I highly recommend this book and I’m very grateful that I was given the opportunity to review it.

Book Blurb for Sugar Baby

Cookbooks with recipes for baking with sugar (in the oven), continue to top the bestseller lists. And yet, no one has set out to do a cookbook with recipes on cooking with sugar (on the stovetop)--until now. In Sugar Baby, Gesine Bullock-Prado offers totally unintimidating step-by-step advice; the simplest instructions; recipes for candy, confections, and treats that integrate stovetop work into finished desserts; and a hilarious voice. Organized by temperature and chemical stages, here are more than 100 recipes for lollipops, caramel, rock candy, chocolate mousse, macarons, marshmallows, pudding pops, cakes, and much more. Sugar Baby will satisfy even the most demanding sweet tooth.

Praise for Sugar Baby:

"Got a sweet tooth? Bakery owner Gesine Bullock-Prado's new cookbook, Sugar Baby, will school you in everything from rock candy to puff pastries. And Bullock-Prado --who has spent a lot of time in the kitchen with her actress sister, Sandra-- makes it look easy."
