Strange Familiar

Olivia Brew, a witch, is in trouble because she’s weak and losing her powers as each day ticks by that she doesn’t pair with her Familiar, which is an equivalent to our soul mate. As is, she can’t perform many of her witch duties such as flying or executing spells because she’s growing too weak by the hour and if not paired with her Familiar soon, she’ll ultimately lose them forever.

She finally receives notification from her mentor and fellow witch, Lily, that the time has come for her to meet her Familiar. It’s been quite some time that she’s been waiting to finally meet him and honestly she’s the only one out of her family who has had the toughest time finding out who she’d be paired with. She’s excited to say the least and can’t wait for it to happen. But the funny part is, her mother and sister just paid her an unexpected visit to her apartment minutes before she’s about to meet him there. When he arrives, she doesn’t want them to see him just yet until she makes sure everything will fall into place for her.

Kane Oliver is a successful lawyer and about to be considered for partnership at the law firm he works for. But over the past year something hasn’t been right with him and it’s troubling him greatly. It seems that during this time he’s been losing his energy, his health and his vitality. Kane is usually a man with high spirits, but he’s been increasingly more depressed and angry as each day passes and he’s worried that something is seriously wrong with him. Talking to his Aunt Herman about what he’s been feeling lately seems to bring some meaning as to why he’s downright sick this year. She convinces him that he’s been overtaken by an evil spirit and needs to immediately do something about it or else he’ll die. She gives him the contact information of a woman who’ll be able to rid him of his evil spirit and make him finally feel better. Visiting this woman, Olivia Brew, is the only hope he has of getting better quickly. Ironically, when he knocks on her apartment door, neither are prepared for how both of their lives are going to be change forever.

Are their lives changed for the better or does meeting each other cause more issues than they both started out with? Is Olivia able to help Kane rid himself of his evil spirit? Does Kane help Olivia strengthen her witch powers?

I have to say that I really enjoyed this story. The storyline was thoroughly creative and the characters were very amusing to me. I had hoped that by Olivia and Kane meeting each other things were going to change for the both of them in a positive way. Ms. Hunter knows how to grab her readers and take them on the ride of their lives while reading her story. I even found myself laughing out loud at certain points in the book. This is definitely one to look into if you want a storyline that’s fresh and creative and characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. Well done, Ms. Hunter!

Book Blurb for Strange Familiar

Fate finally brings Olivia her Familiar… too bad fate is a bored bitch with a dark sense of humor.

At last, Olivia Brew’s Familiar has found her. Now that the search is over, her weakened powers and strength will be restored, and she can get on with her witchy life. But there’s a problem. Her familiar’s not exactly what she expected. And she just might be falling in love with him.

Kane Oliver’s got problems of his own. He’s not interested in being anyone’s pet, and he’s got secrets so deeply buried even he isn’t aware of them. Though he can’t deny the powerful connection between himself and Olivia, he’s not exactly Familiar material. And there are beings more powerful than either of them who want to keep it that way…
