Ms. Harper did a great job on the expansion of this book. Originally it was a short novella called A Leap of Knowing, which I loved and now her lucky readers have a full-length novel to sink their teeth into. We find veterinarian, Morgan Edwards, vacationing in Wales and although she’s seen big dogs while being a vet, she’s never seen a dog as big as this particularly large black one that seems to be following her around during all her sightseeing stops. Being the animal lover that she is, she begins to look for him wherever her tour takes her next. Oddly, after returning home to Spokane Valley, Washington, the last thing she suspects is to see the same dog following her there as well, but she does. As a matter of fact, when she is assaulted by a vagrant wanting money from her after leaving her clinic late one night, this very dog seems to miraculously come to her aid. I have to say that I was one of the lucky ones to read the short novella this extended edition was fleshed out from and I just loved that the giant dog was constantly seeking out Morgan no matter where she was. I’m so glad she started warming up to him. When she realized that she wasn’t hurt because this dog intercepted the attack, she decides to open up her own house to him to offer him food and shelter. It wasn’t until soon after she wakes up to find a very big, powerful, naked man curled up on her floor. This is where the story really takes off for me and the whole truth begins to play out for Morgan. I really enjoyed this extended version of the story and I feel Ms. Harper did a wonderful job expanding her characters and their storylines. This is the first book in The Grim Series and I’m curious to see where this series takes us from here.
The last thing Morgan Edwards expects to find while on a vacation in Wales is a giant black dog following her at each of her tour stops. It happens so often, she finds herself looking for him. Now back home in Washington, she leaves work late one night and is confronted by a vicious vagrant willing to hurt her if necessary. Luck is on her side because out of nowhere the giant black dog attacks the vagrant and Morgan is safe and sound. Without hesitation, she takes him home with her to offer him food, water and shelter. Oddly enough, after a few days of having her new canine friend living with her, one morning when she goes to check on him she finds a large, naked man sleeping on the floor in the dog’s place. Who is this strange man and what did he do with the dog? What does he tell Morgan when she asks who he is? Why was the black dog following her in Wales and now in Washington too?
Enslaved for millennia by the masters of the Welsh faery realm, the fierce Celtic warrior Rhys is doomed to wander the earth forever. But when a brave beauty unwittingly breaks the enchantment, he is drawn into a strange new world…and an all-consuming desire.
Sensible Morgan doesn’t believe in magic—until a mysterious being saves her from a fate worse than death, and life as she knows it changes forever. Now the man of her dreams has become flesh and blood, igniting a spark in Morgan’s soul which science cannot explain. But even a love that transcends time may not be strong enough to withstand the power of an ancient curse.
From the best-selling author of Changeling Moon, this stirring novel of passion and magic launches an addictive new series for fans of paranormal romance.
