Starting Now

A Blossom Street Novel

This was another story that I absolutely loved by Ms. Macomber. I really enjoyed getting to know Libby Morgan and Phillip Stone. The author made Libby to be a strong, independent character who thought she enjoyed working the crazy hours she did at a popular law office just so she could eventually make partner in the firm. As for Phillip, he was also a strong, independent type being he was a pediatric surgeon. Both thought they had everything in their lives to make them happy and successful, but when they met each other, everything changed for them. Through many twists and turns, the author took me on an amazing ride with both her primary and secondary characters and I loved every minute of that ride. I loved seeing how they all needed to grow, in some shape or form, to become more well-rounded people who developed stronger relationships with each other in the end. I especially loved the underlying chemistry that Libby and Phillip felt for each other. Ms. Macomber has another winner on her hands with this novel and I would love to see this novel turned into a TV movie. I highly recommend it and look forward to reading more from this very talented author.

Libby Morgan thinks she has everything she could ever want because she’s a very successful lawyer about to make partner. When she’s called into the boss’ office, she tries keeping her excitement under wraps thinking she’s finally being offered the partnership position she has worked tirelessly for. Instead, she’s let go because of budget cuts and everything she has worked hard for comes crashing down around her. After weeks of not finding a new job, Libby decides to start volunteering at the local hospital in the nursery. It’s there that she meets Dr. Phillip Stone, a pediatric surgeon, and sparks fly between them. But all doesn’t go as smoothly for them as they hope. Through many twists and turns, life has a few lessons to teach the both of them and it’s a matter of how well they pull through each lesson in the end. Does Libby finally find another law firm to hire her? During the time she's unemployed, what does she learn about herself? What does Dr. Stone need to learn about himself to make him a better person in the end? Do Libby and Phillip weather the storm together or does their relationship crumble before ever taking off?

For years Libby Morgan dreamed only of making partner in her competitive, high-pressure law firm. She sacrificed everything for her career—her friends, her marriage, her chance at creating a family. When her boss calls Libby into his office, she assumes it will finally be good news, but nothing can prepare her for the shocking reality: She’s been let go and must rebuild her entire life . . . starting now.

With no job prospects in sight, Libby reaches out to old friends and spends her afternoons at A Good Yarn, the local knitting store. There she forms a close bond with Lydia, the sweet-natured shop owner; Lydia’s spirited teenage daughter, Casey; and Casey’s best friend, Ava, a shy yet troubled girl who will shape Libby’s future in surprising and profound ways.

As A Good Yarn becomes a second home—and the women a new kind of family—Libby relishes the different person she’s become. She even finds time for romance with a charming and handsome doctor who seems to be her perfect match. But just as everything is coming together, Libby must make a choice that could forever change the life she holds so dear.
