I really became engrossed in this novel and wanted to see what developed between psychology student, Nessa Cavanaugh, and Dr. Aron Lindstrom. I loved seeing how Nessa started her first day of her clinical psychology rotation in the Pediatric Oncology department and slowly worked through all the highs and lows that she faced while doing her rotation. I especially enjoyed seeing the sparks fly between her and Aron when they literally ran into each other during their first meeting. The chemistry between them was smoking hot and even though Nessa was hearing stories of how Aron was a womanizer who was only after one thing, I still wanted her to pursue getting to know the sexy, intelligent doctor while not rushing into anything that she might regret later. Ms. Ferrera created characters that were well-rounded individuals that I found readers could very well relate to one way or another. I could see the author’s story playing out in front of me as I was reading it. I felt as if I was another worker, doing my shift at the hospital while watching everything unfold before me firsthand. Of course, I fell for Aron early on and I had hoped that the spark he and Nessa shared together from the beginning wasn’t just something Aron deemed as another conquest to add to his ever-growing list. I highly recommend this book and eagerly look forward to seeing what other stories Ms. Ferrera already has available for her readers to enjoy. Don’t pass this one up!
When Nessa Cavanaugh enters her first day of her clinical psychology rounds to obtain her PhD, she doesn’t account for literally running into a gorgeously handsome doctor and causing him to wear his cup of coffee all down his dress shirt. This isn’t the best way for her to start her day, but when Aron Lindstrom jokes about giving her the dry cleaning bill, then follows up by doing just that, Nessa wonders if there’s something more happening between them. One brief conversation leads to them eventually getting to know each other, but is this just a working friendship? Does Aron feel the sparks burning between them as much as Nessa does? Or is Aron only after another conquest to add to his ever-growing list?
Nessa Cavanaugh, psychology student, knows how to stay on an even keel. Despite the urging of her mother and her academic advisor to get a life and have some fun, “all work and no play” sums up her plan to survive her grueling internship year at a children's hospital. She doesn't want to end up like her father, whose constant ups and downs broke her family, and avoiding unnecessary emotional entanglements is a must.
Then she (literally) runs into Dr. Aron Lindstrom in the middle of her disastrous first day on the job. The attraction is instant—and terrifying. Nessa knows she should stay away—especially when she finds out he has a reputation for being a player—but Aron is brilliant, intense, and as sexy as they come. When he challenges her to take a chance on him, her plans to stay focused on work start to crumble.
But what begins as passion takes on a dangerous edge, becoming an emotional roller coaster that’s frighteningly familiar. As things spiral out of control, Nessa must decide whether she should hold on for the ride or run … even if it means leaving her heart behind.
