I absolutely loved the characters and storyline Ms. Holt created. I was immediately drawn into finding out more information about Blake Massie, the gentleman who was still dealing with the traumatic physical, emotional and mental scars he sustained during the fire that changed his life a few years ago. He was a self-imposed recluse and up until this point, no one or nothing seemed to break down the thick barriers he erected around himself and the rest of the world. That is, until he met Nina Foster, who owned and operated the Books and More bookshop in the town of Freewill, Wyoming. She understood because she had gone through her own traumatic experiences in life, although not as physical as Blake’s was, but just as mentally and emotionally challenging, to say the least. These two forged an amazing friendship with each other that neither of them expected to happen and I had just hoped they could find the love and comfort within each other that they both had longed for these past few years. Ms. Holt is an extremely talented author who knows how to pen emotionally gripping stories her readers can savor even long after having read one of her stories. I highly recommend this story and look forward to reading more of them in the near future.
Nina Foster is the last person who believes she’ll find a man who will truly love her for all the right reasons. Having been through some very tough times in her relationships the past few years definitely has left her emotionally detached from people around her, except for a few very close friends she holds dear to her heart. That is until she strikes up an odd friendship with Blake Massie in which they communicate only through the computer. Not knowing why Blake is so withdrawn from everyone, Nina begins to help not only herself, but also Blake in taking down those thick walls they’ve both surrounded themselves with. Does Blake ever let Nina into his world and does he trust her enough to see his fire-ravaged skin? Does Nina let Blake into her heart to allow him to teach her what true love is really all about?
Books and More owner, Nina Foster doesn’t believe in love anymore. Twice, men have crushed her heart. Now, she’s resigned herself to making hot chocolate and baking cookies for the customers who enter her store. She won’t risk her heart again.
Blake Massie hides away from the world, nursing his scars. He sees himself as a monster that no one could ever love. A self-imposed recluse, he won’t allow himself to open up, afraid of being burned like his fire-ravaged skin.
Unable to reach out in person, the pair communicates via the Internet and hot, erotic fantasies. Night after night, they explore their growing passion with only a blindfold to protect their secrets. As Christmas approaches, Blake must share his pain if he is to ease hers, but doing so could drive her away forever. Can they take a chance and follow their deepest soul dreams, or will their fragile hearts continue to hide from the world and one another?
