Shroud of Fog

A Cape Trouble Novel, #1

In this romantic suspense novel, we’re introduced to Sophie Thomsen and we follow along on her journey back to the tiny little Oregon Coast town called Cape Trouble. You see, this little town used to be the place her family spent so much time in, but she stayed away the past twenty years since her mother was found dead there of an apparent suicide. The bad memories haven’t left her mind, but she continues to try to put it all behind her even though her aunt asks her to come for a visit. Reluctantly, Sophie makes the trip, but soon regrets it when she is notified that her aunt has been brutally murdered. After Sophie arrives in Cape Trouble, she decides to take on the aunt’s crusade of trying to save the falling-down Misty Beach Resort, but in doing so, she doesn’t realize just how much she’s putting her life in danger. When she meets up with newcomer Police Chief Daniel Colburn, sparks fly between them. Daniel knows that Sophie’s life is in danger and he’ll do whatever he has to in order to keep her safe. Is Daniel able to solve both Sophie’s mother and aunt’s mysterious deaths before something happens to Sophie? Could something meaningful come out of the mutual connection that both Daniel and Sophie share?

I absolutely loved this suspense story! The characters were so believable and because I was immediately pulled into the mysterious deaths that were happening to Sophie’s family members, I found myself not being able to put this book down. I loved the town of Cape Trouble and I wanted Daniel to be able to solve both deaths before something happened to Sophie. I loved the connection that Daniel had with Sophie and I was so happy she had someone looking out for her best interest. I wanted to know what was happening in this small town and wondered who might be behind the deaths of Sophie’s family members. If you are in the mood for a wonderful romantic suspense story that will have you so engrossed in it that you lose track of the time, than look no further. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to see where this new series takes us from here. Well done!

Book Blurb for Shroud of Fog

The secrets of the past haunt the present…

Cape Trouble, a tiny Oregon Coast town, was named for the dangerous off-shore reefs. But some of its citizens seek refuge from their own troubles…which have a way of following them.

Sophie Thomsen’s life had a Before and an After – before the terrifying morning when she found her mother dead in the foggy sand dunes, apparently having killed herself. Now, twenty years later, Sophie returns to Cape Trouble, only to find her aunt brutally murdered. Sophie takes over her aunt’s crusade to save the falling-down Misty Beach Resort and its old-growth forest and wild sand dunes and beach from development – even though she never wanted to set foot again on Misty Beach. But Sophie’s memories threaten a killer…who doesn’t dare let her remember too much.

Having come to Cape Trouble to heal his own wounds, Police Chief Daniel Colburn investigates the present day murder, but begins to suspect Sophie’s mother was another murder victim, not a suicide. Everything he learns increases his fear for the woman he is coming to love.

Sophie’s fate may be to die in a shroud of fog, just like her mother before her, unless she can trust Daniel to help her uncover her past in time.
