Professional baseball player Rylan Cates needs to hire a temp assistant to fill in for his regular assistant who is on her honeymoon. Beth Avery is a candidate who applies for the position, but unfortunately she misses the part of the want ad that states her responsibilities would also include dog walking. That is walking two Dachshunds, one Golden Retriever and one Great Dane. Beth gets the job not only because Rylan isn’t attracted to her like he is the other applicants, but also because it seems crazy Atlas, the Great Dane, is instantly smitten with her. As time goes on, Atlas helps Rylan and Beth see that there’s more that meets the eye about them. They are surprisingly attracted to each other, but would a relationship work between them?
I absolutely adored this book! I loved the fact that a Great Dane was in the story and when I got to read all the funny antics Atlas was up to, I laughed out loud because I could actually picture him doing the crazy things he was. Any story with a Dane in it instantly wins me over and this great book was no exception. I enjoyed the slower approach to what was developing between Rylan and Beth and I hoped they gave whatever was happening between them a chance. I loved how Atlas was a matchmaker and I felt Ms. Angell did a wonderful job showing her readers just how much fun and how entertaining sweet Atlas was. Overall this was a great story that I highly recommend. This is the fourth book in the Barefoot William Series, but the first book I’ve read by this author. Rest assured, it won’t be my last. Well done, Ms. Angell!
No One Expects a Curveball
For Rylan Cates, the gloriously sunny beachside town of Barefoot William may be home, but the pro baseball player needs to focus on spring training. Hiring a personal assistant to keep him and his four dogs organized for the next eight weeks is the first step--and Beth Avery is the perfect pinch hitter.
Beth is still looking for her place in the world, and a couple months caring for Rylan's two dachshunds, his golden retriever, and a Great Dane named Atlas should shore up her finances before she moves on. Except it's Atlas who won't budge, pushing her toward tanned, scruffy, sexy Rylan every chance he gets. One more strike and she's calling the dog out--unless she and Rylan admit that the attraction they're feeling is a game-winning grand slam. . .
