Leaving Blue Bayou

This was definitely different from the usual writing style I enjoy reading from Ms. Ross. I usually find myself longing for her books to not end so quickly, but this one was an exception to the rule. In this anthology, Ms. Ross had penned three shorter stories instead of a longer one that is customary for her books. In “Cajun Heat” we find movie star Gabe Broussard looking to get away from all his notoriety, so he returns to his Louisiana hometown to relax and unwind. In doing so, he never imagines reconnecting with Emma Quinlan. Sparks are flying everywhere when these two are together. In “Love Potion No. 9” we’re introduced to Hollywood director, Sloane Hawthorne and Roxi Dupree. Being that Roxi comes from a witch background, Sloane consults with her on some stuff he wants to include in his next movie. These two hit it off and make some magic between their sheets. Finally, in “Dear Santa…” we’re told the story of how Holly Berry hates Christmas and hasn’t celebrated the holiday in years. Finding herself stranded in the town called Santa’s Village, Washington, she meets up with Gabriel O’Halloran and he brings her back to his inn. Maybe Gabriel is all Holly needs to realize the spark and excitement of Christmas is still alive in her heart. These stories are more sexually driven then plot developing, in my opinion. By far, these three stories are supercharged with sex from page-to-page, cover-to-cover. Overall, it was a good book that helped me pass the time, but I’m not sure if I’d re-read it anytime soon.

The story “Cajun Heat” had Gabe Broussard running back to his sweet hometown of Louisiana to unwind from his usual Hollywood lifestyle. When he arrives, he sees Emma Quinlan again and their attraction for each other can’t be denied. “Love Potion No. 9” tells the story of big shot Hollywood director, Sloan Hawthorne needing some magical advice for his new movie script. He meets Roxi Dupree and some magic starts happening between them. Finally, in “Dear Santa…” mystery author, Holly Berry, is stranded after she gets into an accident. Her SUV has broken down and she doesn’t know what to do. That is, until Gabriel O’Halloran stumbles upon her and offers her assistance in more ways than just giving her a lift somewhere. There’s definitely Christmas spirit in the town of Santa’s Village, Washington.
